To qualify for Advanced Math, student scores on Iowa Assessments, MAP, and CogAT are reviewed. Advanced Math is a fast paced, compacted class. Students will typically be working 1-2 levels above grade level.
These math courses will take the place of math in the general education classroom. 4th grade instruction utilizes the Everyday Math series, which is what Oskaloosa Schools has adopted as their math program at the elementary level. 5th grade math uses enVision Math, which is what the 6th grade uses at the middle school. Both programs are aligned to the Common Core.
Enrolled students will receive instruction and their grades from the TAG teacher. Students must maintain an 80% average and keep up with with daily assignments to remain in the program.
